Scent Work Classes:
AKC Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Scent Work is a positive, challenging activity that allows dogs the opportunity to use their strongest natural sense in a way that is fun, engaging, and that builds and strengthens a foundation of trust between the handler and dog. ALL dogs of all ages and physical limitations may participate.

Beginning Scent Work — Training Level Required:
Completion of club intermediate class or CGC title.

— Continuing Scent Work — Training Level Required:
Completion of club intermediate class or CGC title and completion of a beginning scent work class.

Trick Classes: (working toward AKC Trick Dog Titles)

— Beginning Trick Class: Ready to have some fun, teach your dog some tricks, and earn the new AKC trick dog titles?  Tricks are a great way to have fun with your dog and burn off some energy.  In this class we will start with basic trick skills such as paw targeting (shake), nose targeting (close doors, spin in circles), and tricks that tire them out (fetch, sit pretty, and bow).  As the class progresses, we’ll build on these to get more complicated tricks like hug, walking on a balance beam, and even hand-stands!  Along the way, we’ll cover many of the tricks on the AKC’s novice and intermediate trick dog checklists, allowing students to get titles by the end of the class.
Training level required:  CGC title

— Continuing/Trick #2 class: This class will focus on retrieving and heeling tricks. We will look at tricks such as heeling between your legs, backing up, side stepping, and going in circles (great for Rally obedience!). We’ll also work on retrieving tricks beyond fetch, such as identifying objects, and putting your toys away. This class builds on skills from the beginning trick class.
Training level required:  CGC title.

Beginning Novice Obedience:
Advanced training for those who have successfully completed the beginning and intermediate classes.

All of the above classes are offered intermittently when there is sufficient interest to do so. Call or email Nancy Asbury, Training Director, for additional information and availability.
